The Deccan Herald Theatre Festival 2013’, with its wide variety of plays, will be staged at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, from February 1 to 10, at 7.30 pm On February 1, Clear Waters Media will present ‘Accidental Death of an Anarchist’, written by Dario Fo and directed by Kishore Acharya.
A comic farce based on a real-life incident that took place in Italy in 1969, the setting of the play is a police station where the main character, the Maniac, proceeds to investigate an incident in which an anarchist fell from the fourth floor window of the police headquarters where he was being interrogated.
On February 2, WeMove Theatre will present ‘P.S I Don’t Love you’, written and directed by Abhishek Iyengar. This is the story of five friends — a couple who are in trouble, an insecure, desperate for a Prince Charming girl, a hyper-excited crazy nutcase and a sensible mature guy, who set out for what they believe as the ‘journey of a lifetime’.
February 3, Play Pen will showcase ‘Gasping’, written by Ben Elton and directed by Ashish Sen, which is a hilarious look at what happens when one sells air.
As the pollution levels soar across the world, corporate greed knows no boundaries and ‘designer air’ proves to be the marketing phenomenon of the decade.
On February 8, Lights off Production will stage ‘Closer’, written by Patrick Marber, and directed by Siddhanth K S. ‘Closer’ is a tale of confusing love and serendipity, where the only thing more desirable than passion is companionship.
On February 9, The ‘Field of Poppies’, will be performed by Dream Scope. It is written by Walter Wykes and directed by Puja Goyal.
The play revolves around a man called Edward, and is about eternal love that resides in the realms of our hearts. On February 10, ‘Plaza Suite’ by Theatre Lab, written by Neil Simon and directed by Prakash Belawadi, will be staged.
It is a comedy with acts that portray the separate stories of ‘visitors’ to Suite 719 at New York’s Plaza Hotel. Taken together, the two vignettes take the audience from a poignant, sadly funny first act to a hilarious second act 2.
